Dr. Gourdas Choudhuri is a gastroenterologist, educator, social worker, researcher, and columnist who has advanced the specialty of Gastroenterology in India. He has made seminal contributions in creating and spreading awareness on health issues in the country, especially among school and college students.
He pioneered several areas in Gastroenterology in the country. Under his leadership, the Department of Gastroenterology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, became one of the top 5 institutes in the country.
A revered teacher with over 250 scientific publications. He has been inducted as a fellow into prestigious international bodies including the American College of Gastroenterology and the Royal Colleges in Ireland and Edinburgh.

Moving beyond the role of a specialist, Dr. Choudhuri founded HOPE (Health Oriented Programs and Education) in 2004. Aimed at preventing diseases caused by lack of knowledge, HOPE uses school children as ambassadors of change.
